An inspection microscope has long been used in chemical laboratories and the large biological processing industries for the main purpose of analyzing failure among others.  Furthermore inspection microscopes are a big help in inspecting joints and several finishes. They provide a lot of application and uses depending on the design of the inspection microscopes.

The typical physique of an instrument microscope is that it is larger and sturdy than the ordinary light microscopes.  But, there are some hand held kinds of inspection microscopes; these are the smaller ones which are usually used in the industries.

This scientific instrument is quite expensive.  All the parts and pieces are so expensive it will really pay if you will just take good care of this scientific instrument.

So, how well do you maintain an inspection microscope?  Some of the guidelines and tips you’re going to read through will be very helpful for the users and the laboratory custodians as well.

It is important to always maintain an inspection microscope in good condition because it really gives very accurate results.  There are procedures one must follow to maintain that good working condition of the inspection microscope.

The Appropriate Ways to Install and Store the Inspection Microscope

To maintain your inspection microscope in shape, you need to consider the proper ways to install it because when you put it in wrong way, chances are, there will be a high level of deterioration since it has not been stalled properly.  The following are the things you need to remember when it is time fore you to install the inspection microscope and the proper storage of it as well.

1.    You need to consider the table where you are going to install it.  Always make sure that the table is strong and solid enough to hold the full weight of the inspection microscope.  Check if the surface is flat to get an even position.

2.    Try to find a table with a height that will be convenient for the user.

3.    Keep the inspection microscope away from possible fluid and chemical spills; these can directly damage some of the delicate parts of the microscope.

4.    When you are going to use the microscope very often, make sure that the area is free from vibrations.  To avoid being damaged, do not move it around too much to other areas.  Just always keep it in its place.

5.    When the inspection microscope is not in use, remember to cover the whole body with a material made of polythene or plastic to keep it dust and dirt free.

6.    There are times that this microscope will be rarely used, so you need to store it in a dry place or a container.  Add some silica gel to keep the moisture away and prevent the growth of molds and fungus.

7.    Direct sunlight can add to the deterioration of this microscope, so put it away from any direct sunlight.

8.    It is not good to keep any microscope in a humid environment, to keep it always in shape, always make sure that you are going to put and store it in a clean, dry place.

Caring for the Lens

The lens is the most valuable and delicate parts of the microscope.  It is very sensitive so you need to take good care of it.  A clean smooth lens will always provide you with very accurate results.

These are some of the important things you need to remember when it comes to maintaining the lens.

1.    Always keep the lenses oil and dust free.  There are times that a user will need to put an oil when inspecting something, just make sure that it will not get into the lenses to keep it in good condition.

2.    Wipe all the dirt and dust after use.  But somehow, don’t use a cloth when doing so.  Use a brush made with camel’s hair and either way, you can use an air brush.

3.    If in case oil has gotten through the lenses, remove it carefully using a cleaning fluid especially made for lenses.  Carefully wipe the oil with a lens paper, make sure that you wipe it gently to avoid making scratches on the lens.

4.    Replace any scratched and damaged lens.

An inspection microscope is a very sensitive and expensive scientific instrument.  Maintaining it will require patience on your part so that it will last for long years. Remember, inspection microscopes are very accurate and useful instrument, so take good care of it.
